St. Andrews Alumni Council established the Equestrian Hall of Fame in 2022, with the first inductee to be named at Alumni Weekend 2023.




St. Andrews Equestrian Hall of Fame

Purpose:

To recognize individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements and support of the St. Andrews Equestrian Program and/or equestrianism at large.

Nominating Process:

To nominate an individual for the St. Andrews Equestrian Hall of Fame you must submit a nomination form with the following information:

  1. A statement of nomination detailing the nominee’s qualifications.
  2. Supporting materials which can include, but are not limited to, media publications, references, and the nominee’s vitae.

Selection Process:

  1. Nominations may come from alumni and members of the St. Andrews campus community, both past and present.
  2. Nominations will be submitted to the St. Andrews Alumni Council.
  3. Nominations from the Alumni Council may be shared with the St. Andrews Equestrian Department for further consideration and insight. Any additional information will be considered by the St. Andrews Alumni Council’s Nominations Committee prior to a formal invitation.
  4. Nominations will receive their first review by the Nominations Committee of the St. Andrews Alumni Council during its annual September meeting.
  5. Recommendations from the Nominations Committee will be shared and approved by the St. Andrews Alumni Council during its annual February meeting.
  6. No more than three (3) individuals and no more than one (1) team in a single year will be honored.
  7. Declined nominees may be retained within the nomination pool for future consideration.
  8. Approved nominees will be contacted by a member of the St. Andrews Alumni Council for acceptance. If rejected, the nominee’s reasons should be recorded in case of future considerations.
  9. Approved new members will be inducted at the following Alumni Weekend.

Criteria for The St. Andrews Equestrian Hall of Fame Induction:

1.         Student-Athlete(s):

  • If not a graduate, must have attended the institution for a minimum of two full academic years and have had good academic standing during that time.
  • Graduated five or more years ago.
  • While athletic achievements are of prime importance, moral character and good citizenship must be exhibited both during and since departing the institution.

2.         Athletic Team:

  • Each member of the team must fulfill the requirements for Student-Athlete(s).

3.         Coach or Administrator:

  • Have been employed by the institution for at least five years.
  • Have made a lasting contribution to the equestrian program through leadership, time, effort, and/or interest.
  • Have exhibited continuous good citizenship.

4.         Other Individuals:

  • Have been closely connected to the equestrian program for a minimum of five years.
  • Have made a lasting contribution to the equestrian program through leadership, time, effort, and support.
  • Have exhibited continuous good citizenship.

5.         Special Cases:

Under special circumstances, individuals who do not meet the stated criteria for induction may be considered. These special considerations will be given to those who have made continued and lasting contributions to their community and society through community involvement, their professional field, and other avenues that bring credit and distinction to the institution.
